Charter Communication Sucks
It’s a neverending battle. Charter Communications is an absolutely terrible provider. We started our service 3 months ago, and since then it has been a joke. But I am not laughing.
We were scheduled for installation on a saturday between 1-4. We waited until 4:30pm before we called them wondering if they were going to show. They informed us that they had rescheduled our appointment because they couldn’t confirm that we were home. They insisted that they had called us to verify the appointment and we didn’t answer. We did not receive a single call from them. They tried to tell us that they would do their best to get someone there “right now”, but of course no one showed. Our reschedule appointment to get TV and Internet set up was the following Thursday and the phone was for Wednesday. However, to install the phone they needed to have an active cable line, which wouldn’t be setup until the next day. The tech who came out to setup the phone was annoyed, and ended up setting up the cable/internet for us as well.
Ok, at least we have working service at this point. For a couple days anyways. Our premium stations and on demand service have simply not worked since then. No matter how many calls we make or times we try to explain that we have been over and over the exact same steps, we get no help. Some say that they will send a service guy out but will charge our account. Some say that it is free. They all say “unplug the set top box, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in” then “I’m going to send a signal that will fix this, wait an hour then call back if it doesn’t”. Too bad I can’t get the same tech on the line every time.
I have been on the phone with them all day trying to fix this. We have a tech coming out tomorrow to hopefully fix this once and for all, but after all the terrible complaints that I read about online I seriously doubt any good will come of it.
Granted, this is not nearly as bad as a lot of other customers accounts, but it is nonetheless frustrating. Old school cable was so much easier and reliable. Plug it in and it worked. What ever happened to that?

Update: Called to reschedule my appointment for tonight, which was for 6-8pm, and they had it in their system for between 6-8 in the fucking morning. What the fuck is wrong with them?
Updated: Ok, so the day before they are supposed to show up to fix it, it all started working. Perfectly. What’s up with that?
charter communications is a terrible name considering the communications part is null and void!!!
They are absolutley the worste there is, I would rather go back and deal with AT&T;. At leaste there I can speak to some one inside america and can speak english good, or at leaste fake it. They are rude people at charter.
Charter, don’t even get me started. The best time was when service was down, typical of course, and I called the tech line to have them reset my port at the DC. As you know, I have a pretty solid foundation on network troubleshooting and management, so I knew I just needed the port reset so the modem would bind to upstream DHCP.
Long story short, the tech proceeded to tell me that I needed to uninstall the driver for the network card on my laptop. Need I say more?
Haha, goddamn.
I am still entertaining the idea of going back to AT&T;. The phone lines in our house are kinda screwed up though.
