Old school Nu School breaks

It’s a good 45 minutes to an hour to get home from work each day, plenty of time to really get into some music. Yesterday I listened to Merlyn: Nu Horizons Volume 1 on the way home, which has always been one of my favorites. I don’t know if I was just in the right mood or what but I had goosebumps just about the whole way through the mix. There is something about haunting, chilling vocals over spaced out trance like sounds on top of a break beat that just totally and completely works for me. Not bad for a 2001 release.

Check it out!

That albumn is one of the best breaks compilations ever made. You could say it is what defines the beginning of nu-breaks. Classic for sure.

Beatstalker and Wideroller are probably the best tracks on there, imo. The synths on beatstalker reminds me of Prodigy’s The Narcotic Suite:Skylined
